Experienced Musicians Share Stories

Experienced Musicians Share Stories

An intergenerational conversation on Dunedin’s music scene has begun on OAR FM.

Ashane De Silva hosts new Youth Zone programme and podcast OG Sounds, which features one-on-one conversations with musicians and educators about their experiences in the local music scene.

The 17-year-old is drawing on his involvement with the Amped Music Project as inspiration.

Amped is an annual series of free music workshops that take place in Term 3, providing mentoring and all-ages gigs for young people. Guest artists, technicians and tutors from Dunedin’s music community engage with participants, offering valuable insights into how to navigate a pathway in the music industry.

Ashane, who currently plays in thrash-metal band Roadkill, said it was important that the stories of experienced musicians were shared more widely.

His first guest was Kaine Harington, Co-Head of Performing Arts at King’s High School.
